Best of Co-ords

If you've been paying any attention to fashion at the moment (or even if you haven't been) you've probably noticed a huge trend - the co-ord. There are so many different types of co-ord which makes it an option for anyone. They're also pretty good value for money as you don't have to always wear them together, so aswell as having a whole outfit you're also getting a top/jacket and trousers/shorts/skirt to match with other things too. Good right?! All items are linked.

 

This one is actually two trends in one as the top half is a bralet. If you're biggest busted like me this probably isn't going to work for you. I love the neon palm tree print and the fact the skirt is a midi, I'm not a great fan on a bralet teamed with a mini skirt. Sold separately both items are priced at £14.99 and are from Missguided.

 

I think this is a great one from going from day to night. It's very summery and girly, could be worn to work or for drinks. Again it's another piece which would be very easy to wear separately. The website doesn't actually give fabric details so I'm not sure what it's made from but the trousers look like quite a loose fit, the material doesn't look heavy so I think it would make a perfect summer outfit and is from Boohoo. This outfit is sold together and comes in at £30. 

 

I just love how this one looks and think the jacket worn with a pair of jeans would look amazing. The aztec pattern teamed with the metallic is just perfect. The shorts have side pockets which may not seem like a big deal but it just seems to add to the details, and who doesn't like a pocket! This ones sold separately with the shorts costing £39 and the jacket £49 and is from Rare London. 

 

 I love this one, I think it's got abit of a festival feel about it with the daisies and fringed top and the floaty look of the shorts. This ones perfect for people who want to try out the co-ord look but are a little afraid of going too OTT or adding too much colour. This is cute and girly with abit of edge, also really good for those who want to show a little mid section but are abit conscious of it. This set is from pop couture and comes in at £26. 

 

Another pair of floaty shorts perfect for the summer. This one comes with a boxy top which honestly I don't think suits everyone, they just seem so sit funny on some people so I'm not a huge fan of the boxy top but this one looks pretty cute and as it has no sleeves will probably sit nicer. I really like the pattern on this one! This is another from Missguided and again is sold separately (I think all of theirs are) the shorts are £17.99 and the top is £14.99. 

This one is just lovely, a midi skirt with a crop top and it's pink! What's not to like?! It's also all textured which just adds to the whole thing. As you can see the skirt is quite figure hugging so you'll have to be quite confident with your body to wear this. It's from bank fashion and is sold separately the top at £12 and the skirt at £14. 

 How cute is this? Another daisy print and floaty shorts. The shorts on this one are high waisted so you probably wont be flashing as much of your mid section as you'd think looking at the picture. I love the colours on this one, being a little darker with a splash of colour makes it easy to wear with a pair of tights when it's abit chilly out. This ones from ark and is £19.99

Adee Phelan Hair Stripper - Review

Ok so as some of you know I have naturally red hair which I never used to dye. After having my daughter 19 months ago I dyed my hair a dark purple which I wasn't too keen on and my roots were awful. Last year summer I did my hair Ombre (pictured below) which I loved but got bored of after a few months so brought a 'Iced Coffee' colour which I think was Garnier which was really dark so my efforts to lighten it up with lighter dyes of course didn't work.

  I decided to lighten my hair up again the best thing to do would be to strip it. After having a look around I came across Adee Phelan Hair Colour Remover for Dark Tones .  They also do the same stripper for lighter tones. I ordered this one from Boots online, it wasn't the cheapest or most expensive but thought it sounded just like what I wanted, and at £14.95 I didn't think it was overpriced.

 The bottles you get are really small so I was definitely surprised by the amount of product you actually get in each one. It stated on the box two boxes are recommended for longer hair which I hadn't seen mentioned on Boot's website but two boxes were not required at all, in fact I was getting a little bored of trying to use up all the product in the end which isn't something to moan about really, it's much worse to run out of product before finishing the job. I did read the instructions very carefully and re-read every step throughout once I got to it. I also watched the online video which it recommends you watch before starting which was a compete waste of time and is a step that can be skipped. The remover was really easy to put on, it needs to stay on for roughly 30-60mins depending on length and colour. I left the remover on for the 60 minutes so simply wrapped a towel around my shoulders whilst applying in my bedroom, no mess! I wrapped my hair up in cling film once it was all on and put a shower cap on, the product itself wasn't uncomfortable but it smelt of rotten eggs really bad so I was looking forward to getting my hair washed. You have to rinse your hair with just clean water for a whole ten minutes once it's ready to come off, it's really important to do the whole rinsing time too so no skipping a few minutes then you use the buffer. After I had done everything my hair felt really dry but as I was planning on dying it the next day I didn't worry too much. So the next day I put some Carrot Oil into my hair forgetting I needed dry hair to dye, opps! So my hair was washed that morning, dyed that afternoon and washed again after dying. My hair looked lovely, no longer dry, shiny and really healthy looking but the one big issue was I could still smell that awful smell! Nobody else could really smell it and it couldn't be smelt by smelling my hair but I got a whiff every now and then and when I brushed or combed my hair which made me think the smell was on my scalp. The smell didn't last too long, about a day I think, but it was awful while I could smell it. 

All in all I would recommend this product to someone who wants to strip their hair without causing any damage or ending up with really dry hair and it's a cheaper option to having it done at a salon. I was happy with the product but am unsure if I would use again or try something else just due to the smell.

 

Olympic Torch Relay

 

Amelia got to hold the torch! Lucky girl. My sister is holding her and I'm on the end.

At the weekend we went to Stepney Green to see the torch relay. It was a really nice day as it got warm and stayed dry so of course I was a happy girl! Amelia was really excited to get her hands on the torch, by the look on her face I'm sure she thought she was allowed to keep it and wasn't too impressed when it was taken away, boo! There was a big celebration in the park, not forgetting the huge robot..

 

Did anybody else go to see the torch?

As I live about 20mins from the Olympic stadium it was probably one of the only things I will be enjoying about the Olympics.  

Budget Fashionistas Rejoice - Guest Post

Browsing in vain hope through the online sales in mid-July would, at best, normally snag me a couple of cut-price autumn end of lines.  Last year I was out of a job and donning the cocoons and sloping shoulder jackets well into the summer season, having picked them up at a bargain.  Ever I seem to be a step behind everybody else and, being a student, I expected this year to be the same. 

            So if you can master the bedhead frizz that this humidity is causing, what’s bad for the economy is good for budget fashionistas!  Now might be the first time that I’ll be able to join in with the trends of the month.  We hear that all of this rain is forcing the high street to launch their sales early; nobody is going into town on a drizzly Saturday morning and coming back with Stars & Stripes denim hot pants, hem vests and straw trilbies.  But it’s not just the day wear that’s suffering; one of the best things about fashion in summer is the availability for nightlife outfits!  Jackets and cardigans no longer need to be co-ordinated with your perfect dress and you’re free to wear your favorite (but very breezy) shift cami!

            One look at any of the high street store’s “Just Arrived” page on their website is enough to douse that tiny hopeful flame that is this summer’s fashion.  At this time of year, the week of the school’s summer break, we should be seeing beachwear, resort wear; people will be looking to jet off soon and those left behind will be swooping down on English coastlines in search of the sun.  But on River Island’s website I see dark pastel colours across fallaway jackets and sweaters.  However in their sale; dresses, shorts, sunglasses, pinks, light blues, reds and whites!  A pandemonium of holiday wear at October’s pricing!

            So we can take something good from all of this bad weather.  We’re being told that the good weather is approaching (aren’t we always?) so why not prepare whilst prices are low?  After all, if the weather never comes; nobody gets the chance to wear their outfits and they’ll still be fresh and new for next ‘summer!’
